First open Google Maps. Use the “open now” filter. This gets rid of a lot of options right away. Then do not look at the star ratings. Instead look at how reviews a place has. A place with a lot of reviews, like 700 or 800 is probably a place that people like and go back to. A perfect score from a few reviews does not tell you much.

Look at the photos. Do not just look at the first one. That is usually a nice picture of the entrance. Scroll down. Look at the photos of the mini golf course itself. You can see how well the course is taken care of and what the obstacles look like. These photos are more helpful than anything the course says about itself.

Check Yelp before you make a decision. Some small local mini golf courses do not show up in search results because they do not have fancy websites.. These places are often really good and cheaper and the people who work there care about what they do. It is worth taking a few minutes to find them.

If you are planning to go on a weekend call ahead of time. This way you can find out how you will have to wait if you can just walk in and if you can bring your own food. This is important if you are going with a group of people.

Think about whether you want to play indoors or outdoors. Outdoor mini golf courses are nice because you can get some air and relax. Indoor courses with lights are fun and good for evening plans. Choose a course that fits what you are doing.

Do not ask a hotel for recommendations. Ask someone who lives in the area instead.. Do not worry if a course is hard. That is just part of mini golf.
